Firefox for mobile has been released for Nokia’s Maemo5 Platform, which the Nokia N900 runs on. Mozilla’s goal was to bring the experience that users had on the desktop to the mobile phone, which they accomplished by including many of the features that users have become accustomed to, including the awesome bar, add-on support, location-aware browsing, tabbed browsing and safe browsing. Weave sync support has also been included to allow users to sync Firefox tabs, history, bookmarks and passwords between their desktop and mobile phone. While Firefox add-ons will not work with Firefox for mobile, there are already 64 made-for-mobile addon-ons available on Mozilla’s mobile add-on page.
N900 users can download the browser from firefox.com/mobile. Mozilla is also currently working on versions of the Firefox browser for Windows Mobile and Android. iPhone and BlackBerry users are out of luck though, as there are currently no plans to support those operating systems.
